Oli de Les Garrigues DOP

Oli de les Garrigues is an olive oil Protected Designation of Origin. The name refers to the Catalan county of Les Garrigues, whose symbol (on the flag and shield in the right panel) is an olive branch, Les Garrigues being a traditional area of olive cultivation (most of it without the necessity of irrigation). Olive oil from the Garrigues is frutiy, with aroma that is reminiscent of tomato and green almonds. Depending on the time of the harvest the oil can be "fruity green", when from an early harvest, or "fruity sweet", from more mature olives and slightly sweeter. The only variety of olive used is Arbequina, whose name derive from Arbeca, a town in the region.
