Olives La Prieta is the only producer in the world of olives "Prieto." It is the product we market par excellence. “Prieta” olives are the result of a very ancient and now almost extinct preservation process. This tradition began in the island of Malta in the 9th century BC, and it arrived to the Iberian peninsula in the time of the crusades. This kind of preparation is strongly rooted in Arahal, near Seville, in Southern Spain, since climate, geography and several factors have made of our region an ideal place to produce the raw material that is required to obtain “Prieta” olives: “Manzanilla Sevillana” olives. It could be said that, whereas, Manzanilla Sevillana olives are the mainstay of ourlocal economy, “aceitunas prietas” are our best kept secret! Besides the production of “Prieta” olives, we also produce other olive varieties: Gordal, chamomile and verdial and different types of olive oil.
